Reflections from Eden Seet, Marketing and Logistics Intern

Hello, I’m Eden, and my journey with Social Gifting began at the start of 2024 right after I graduated from Secondary School, at the age of 17. Stepping into the working world, I was brimming with enthusiasm but lacked experience. However, my time here has been a whirlwind of learning, growth, and meaningful experiences.

Social Gifting has been an avenue for me to extend a helping hand to those in need of support. Apart from that, it is also a platform where I’ve not only shared the crafters’ creations but also supported their passions and talents.

One of the most impactful experiences during my time with Social Gifting was working alongside a colleague with autism. Initially, communication posed a challenge, but with patience and understanding, I learned to adapt to her working style. Identifying her strengths and weaknesses allowed us to collaborate more effectively, teaching me valuable lessons in communication and empathy.

Another memorable moment was organising a Chinese New Year crafting session at Lions Befrienders. Witnessing the joy on the faces of the seniors as they engaged in various activities was incredibly heartwarming. It highlighted the importance of simple gestures in bringing happiness to others and reinforced my commitment to making a difference in people’s lives.

Moreover, my role in Social Gifting has enabled me to explore the realm of Marketing from scratch. Despite initially feeling overwhelmed, I quickly adapted and honed my skills in areas like product photography, listing on Shopify, and social media promotion. These newfound abilities not only enriched my professional skills but also instilled confidence in my capabilities.

I am immensely grateful to Valen and my colleagues for their guidance and support throughout my journey with Social Gifting. Their mentorship has been invaluable in shaping my understanding of the industry and honing my skills.

Social Gifting’s mission to empower differently-abled crafters resonates deeply with me, igniting a passion for creating a more inclusive society. I believe that by supporting initiatives like Social Gifting, we can foster a sense of belonging and acceptance for all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds or abilities.
